I think mostly comes up lately in the area of chipping. It seems to me that there is a trend to use chipping to show all the highlights on vehicles. On the majority of vehicle this is not goin to be realistic with the exception of maybe desert use or white wash. I personally think the work of many of these people looks great. At the same time it is often way over done. The presence of a few chips goes a long and is probably much more realistic.

An example that comes to mind is a king tiger that was recently seen on the ML disscusion board. The tank paint job looked great. However alot of the edges were shown with chipping. this was supposed to represent a king tiger in Berlin, I think, that was most likely only produced and sent to the field relatively recently. It would be unlikely that that much chipping would be going on.

IMHO, I think the use of chipping by many needs to be scaled back a bit. Like I said it looks great, but is just a bit too much and unrealistic.
