Note also:

Rust on parts of barrel travel lock, which is not the standard item but a field improvised model. As such, its painting would be substandard. The areas immediately adjacent are still solidily OD.

The dark, shiny barrel from continuous rubbing as the only natural hand-hold for climbing on and off.

What would likely be called "chipping" on the differential housing but which is actually a splattered liquid, probably bore cleaner and preservative oil that dripped off the bore brush when cleaning the gun.

Some of the photos from the last large scale Chechen operations are perfect examples of the splattered mud being interpreted as "chipping".
