Once that's dried try using Kleer/Future over the top, and leaving it to dry thoroughly, then drybrushing the base colour over the whole thing - then you have the chipped paint and the whole decal begins to fade out. Once your base colour coat is dried add 20% of white paint to give a final dry brush. This will make the paint work look very faded, replicating strong sunlight fade and, the sand blasting from strong winds too :-)
