| Hey Stan; I have seen it done a few ways . The most realistic and time consumeing is to paint your AFV primer red useing enamel paint (I use Humbrol#113 rust matte). Let it cure for a few days, then paint what ever color you were going to paint it using acrylic paint . Let it cure for a few days, then using an x-acto knife carefully remove the outer layer of paint from the primer . I saw it done by a pro and his looked much better than what I could do, but it did have deopth to it . But a muct faster and easier way is to paint your AFV the color you wont, let it cure. Then eather use primer red /hull red and a very fine brush or a Prismacolor pencel in dark umber and start nicking it where it would be easly chipped. Corrners of hatches, edges , rails nuts, bolts, ect . I use the prismacolor pencel more that the paint. Steve |
