I operate a crane for Aircraft Crash recovery in the Air Force. I can tell you this much. We do grease all of our cables, but it’s not accomplished all the time. Most of our cables are coated in grease but have a fine layer of AZ dust accumulated on them. Some parts of the cables are kinked and frayed. We get them pull tested and X-rayed every now and again. If they pass inspection, then we leave them alone.
Otherwise, we don't replace cables unless its needed. |
