Hi Sami,

The color of handles if they are wooden depends on a few things, what kind of wood they are made from, and then the age of the item. Look at some of your own real tools, shovel, hammer, ect for inspiration. Remember that in wartime tool handles a seldomly varnished and left in their natural state after machining. Thats where age comes into it, a nice new handle will have a nice blondish cast to it while an older weather beaten item will have a grey cast to it. There was recently a thread on TL about woodgrain appearence in scale, I fall into the "dont overdo the different browns trying to simulate grain" croud. Anymore though I rarely paint handles, I instead make them from wood in a mini lathe, replacing the plastic entirely. Toothpics for round handles, basswood for semi rounds like axe's. I always say it and I am again, nothing looks like wood like wood.....LOL

Model on,
Clair
