I painted many lead 'BattleTech' figures with them before 1994 (somewhere around 200) All of them were by brush after base-coating with grey Citadel Primer. I had no problems at all. I had people offer to buy my mins right off the tourney table, and if I wasn't too attached to the fig's paint, I took it.
I've tried to use them similarly now, and they are ~disgusting~. Not to mention they are charging the same price for a 10ml bottle that they used to for a 23ml one.
Yea, I tried airbrushing 'em too (I have a few 1/16 tanks) and I spent more time cleaning the brush out than getting a decent job on the model. I'd sooner use Krylon grey and camo paints than Tamiya. Much cheaper too. |
