Well everyone, thank you very much for that. I guess I was out of touch, but I honestly haven't noticed a huge difference over the years - I've been using Tamiyas since about 1989, when I switched from Humbrol/Testors Model Master.
I wouldn't mind trying the Vallejo stuff, but something worries me. It's a paint that a lot of the wargamers on other forums use. There are also many of those wargamers who almost universally claim their paint (whatever paint it is) won't adhere to the soft plastic figures I've always used and never had a problem painting. I have a hypothesis that it must be the paints they use versus what I and some others who also paint plastic figures have, so I worry a little in that regard...
