Verlinden's method involves a heavy, dark wash followed by severe drybrushing when dry. It differs primarily in the application of the heavy wash, which is smathered all over the vehicle, nearly changing the
bsae color entirely. It's the method I use and it brings out a variety of shades of the base color.
The fellow above posted about the "frosted" look. The way to avoid this is to limit the use of white as a lightener of the base color. For instance when drybrushing an OD green base coat, use khaki to lighten
it, not white. For panzer yellow, use a very light khaki; for panzer gray, use a mix of light gray and light blue.
The method take a bit of courage, and practice, but with time your technique will improve.
