Doug,

In 1943 all ordinance was painted "Dunkel Gelb" which is what the

Germans called dark yellow. Even optics, tool boxes, ammo boxes, just

about everything was painted dark yellow. Before that everything was

painted dark grey "Panzer Grey" or field grey. The 120mm mortar was

in action in the later half of WWII, so almost all of those weapons

were dark yellow.
