I agree that the 'ambush' scheme was normally applied in the factory in a hard-edged form; I also agree that it's not possible to be too dogmatic about this kind of thing. It appears that different factories applied it in different ways - there are photos of Hetzers and Panzerjaeger IV's with a pattern based on overlapping spots, while Panthers and Tiger II's seem to have had more wavy lines.
The only photo of a Panther I could find was in Panzer Colours I; it shows a late model Panther in a partial 'ambush' scheme that looks to be the hard-edged pattern. |
