The original barrel color would be that of the rest of your vehicle-i.e. Armor yellow /red brown/dark green. The color differences reflect the state of the repair/replacement situation.Extended firing will somewhat darken the barrel's colors also.What you are seeing is quick barrel replacement on a vehicle much needed in the field.The Repair facility may not have been able to cammoflauge the replacement barrel as per the rest of the vehicle due to lack of time/or lack of painting facilities caused by yet another retreat.Therefore the barrel color of the replacement is different -a sort of "what you see is what you get"-
replacements being in a raw, primed but unpainted state.
If you dig around a bit in some of those photo sources you will find a few Tigers sporting similarly unpainted barrels.
You could show a well maintained vehicle with text book cammo applied or one that is a worn out veteran shoved back into the line during desperate times.
