Photos of in action Hummels show the external surfaces of the breech to be painted Dk Yellow. I also recall there being arty pieces where the entire block is metal. But in the brief look over of wartime photos, the sfH18 on Hummeln show dark yellow (of course the internal areas were polished metal)
