Mike -
A word of caution: several "color" photos, perticularly ones appearing in Signal, were actually colorized, B&W photos that were" analogily" painted in color to enhance their propaganda value or just to make the mag more visually appealing. You can sometimes tell by the uniform appearance of skin and vehicle tones between multiple examples in the same shot.
Some Panzer Grau paints are too light, at least to my eyes, like the old Aeromaster color. Your Tiger I seems pretty close to this, but as other say, it could have been in summer combat too long without time to refresh its paint scheme ;-)>!
Tony Greenland has a formula for improving the Tamiya color that includes adding some blue - sorry but all my books are packed away just now, but maybe someone else can find it for you. Both the Tamiya original and TG's are darker without approaching the exaggerated blue/black end. If my memory serves, the old Humbrol colo(u)r was nearer to that very dark shade.
Best,
CTew
