I usually end up dulling my final vehicle with Dullcote and finding the results to "dry" and "dusty" in addition a dull finish decrease contrast between darks and lights.

All to say I have been dulling the model down and then usually do a satin mist on the turrent and partially down the sides, kind of blending the dusty dry bottom (which seems natural) with a more satin sheened top (assuming use and crewmembers have burnished the finsih a bit more thatn the wheels etc.).

That is my 2 cents.
