Woody,
Tiger1 on the Eastern Front by Jean Restayn, has an excelent coverage of the
markings for sPzAbt 506 inluding colour plates and explanations for all the
Company and HQ colours. It should still be available as it is only a year or
two old.

Just a quick overview, the marking is a Tiger with one paw on a red and
white cross shield, the other paw over a large W. The W is green for for
Stab, White for Company 1, Red for company 2 and yellow for company 3. This
is also the colours used for the turret numbers. The other unique thing to
this unit is that the Tigers are numbered 1 to 14 in each of the companies,
as such that Tiger 7 in company 2 would have a red 7 on either side of the
turret.

Good choice for a topic, early and mid Tigers, with some of the mids being
some of the elusive ones delivered without zimmerit, a godsend to the
zimmeritphobiacs.
regards,
Trevor Ware
