Gunze's Mr. Color Thinner is sold to cut Mr. Surfacer and works fine. Lacquer thinner works too, as mentioned.
I believe Mr. Surfacer is actually a Dupont automotive primer/filler, the difference between grades (500, 1000, 1200) being the amount of solids in the vehicle. You can buy it by the quart or gallon if you find the Dupont number.
