It's funny you mentioned the peeling problem, I just had the same problem for the first time ever! I've been using Testor's MM Acrylics for years without a problem (in fact, I was a big fan of them), but suddenly last month I had a serious problem with peeling while using Tamiya masking tape. Basically, the Tamiya tape pulled off the Testors paint I had airbrushed onto my Eduard Sopwith Camel in huge chunks! I thought it could have been many different things - maybe Eduard didn't wash the mold release agents off the plastic well enough, maybe I didn't let the paint dry well enough, maybe the tape was too tacky, maybe it was too cold in my basement now that winter is here, etc. I've never had the problem before in 30 years of modeling.
Anyone else experience Testors peeling just recently? Maybe they changed their own formula a little bit?
I'm working on a Monogram Bf 110 now, and I'll be watching closely to see if there's any peeling. It's a terrible problem to deal with, one that I just can't have. |
