| For the flack 88, definitely sub assemblies. I've started mine a few days ago and have identified a number of sub assemblies to paint as units. The key thing is visualizing your ability to get the paint evenly into all the nooks and crannies. Using just a spray can will be a challenge for you. If an airbrush is out of the question, you might consider doing some the more difficult to reach internal detail areas with a brush and then follow on with the spary to avoid getting too much paint in some areas while trying to get coverage.
