Yes, the Air Force was actually USAAC (United States Army Air Force) and only after the war it was separated as an independent force (USAF= United States Air Force) I am not aware of that particular period, though I've seen Yellow and White markings on AFVs. Someone posted that those colors may change after weathering, which is quite right... (and yes, I'd personaly stick to Insignia Yellow)
