Israeli Sand was a yellow-tan color during the 1960's but shortly before the 1973 war, the color was changed to a dingy gray-green color, the so-called Sand Gray. Testors offers this shade out of the bottle in their enamel and acrylic lines. Over the years it appears to have gotten darker, though Israeli unit commanders have also been known to customize the color for the terrain their unit operates in, so there are variations.
One Israeli vet I know who brought a sample back to the US in the 1980's suggests a 50-50 mix of Testors US Armor Sand and US FS34087 Olive Drab (the Tamiya OD is greener than the Testors color, so you might want to use their Khaki Drab instead of OD in the mix). Beware of letting the final finish get too dark, as the ever-present dust as invariably lighter than the paint.
