I have used an HP-C on my last two projects. i can get a really thin line if I'm right up at the model at about 5psi but I find the paint has to be thinned just right. In addition smooth plstic can sometimes be tricky as if you aren't at the perfect distance, the air will push the paint around before it dries. I can get better control though if I back the brush off a bit maybe inches and shoot a slightly wider line (but still pretty tight) at about 15psi with the paint thinned about 40% paint 60% thinner.

So far I love this airbrush. I had the worst badger previously though, so I'm not so experienced.
