Hi there, I use around 1 measure of paint for every 3-4 measures of thinner. your airbrush won't break, though. for weathering, you may end up using much more thinner, like 8 measures of thinner for each of paint, or more.
for acrylics, I don't really know.
Have you got a regulator for your air pressure? if so, at low pressure paint tends to come thicker, at high pressure, it may use a lot of thinner, but results are interesting, paint comes out very soft... practice before getting your hands into an expensive Tiger II...

Don't forget to wear a mask to protect your lungs.
