Hi there,
When I airbrush (I use an Aztek A4740) I just clean it with a couple of mils of thinner, then with a rag or paper tissue I clean the nozzle tip, and change the color. I can't say about other brands, but Azteks seem to be pretty straight forward. In the other hand, paying little attention to this resulted in some accidents. So it is better to clean after every color. When I finish painting for the day I clean the nozzle (disassemble with care) and carefully remove any trace of pigment, because stubborn sediments always remain either in the cup, nozzle or the parts of the body where paint circulates. I've had this airbrush for nearly 2 years and it is great. No fuss, no dramas, no problems.
BTW
Does anybody know a method to produce extremely thin lines (with an airbrush)?
