I was fortunate, (or unfortunate), enough to work at APG when the armor in the old dark building was be moved to hopefully better display space that in the event never developed as Vietnam drained funds. Most of the zimmerit was removed for protective paint. Historic relevance meant nothing.The zimmerit always struck me as looking like dried paper mache and very light grey in color. If you look in areas of some vehicles where it was hard to get at you can still find some traces of zimmerit at APG, but over the years souvenier hunters have probably got most of it off.
