Logic says they would be painted the vehicle colour (better for preservation and camouflage) and the colour photos I have of Dunkelgrau vehicles suggest that this was the case. Unfortunately I don't have any sufficiently clear photos of Dunkelgelb ones which show one way or the other but in either case, they would probably exhibit signs of wear to a greater degree than the vehicle itself did.
