Nope.
That was an easy answer.
I spend enough time trying to correct, recycle, and enhance the model I'm working on at that moment so that I don't dwell in the past.
What's done is done. If it was "good at the time" then it still should be "good" despite how my skills have changed. My models serve as a time line of my development. Looking back if I choose I can say "well that one sure looks like cr*p compared with this one". Each model is built for a momonent, an idea, or some inspiration that says "do it".
I am guilty of cannibalizing my old models of all those neat resin do-dads I put on them.
I don't believe in tossing old built models out. I try to find a home for them first with a VFW or some such. If that fails then there is the proper military funeral for them; lighter fluid and a firecracker. It seems appropriate.
Last week marked the end to a Tamiya M4A3 Sherman Jumbo. This was the model that marked my transition from weak to strong modeling skills. A model that I was very proud to display but now has long outlived its shelf space. I took it out to the field where I hunt, set it in a clearing, slowly strode away and counted off 25 paces, turned and fired a 20 gauge deer slug into it. I'll never know what the last thoughts of those three Verlinden tankers were but I'm sure it was brief as there was very, very little left of the tank and no sign of them. |
