The latest issue of Fine Scale Modeler had an article about masking camouflage patterns with silly putty. I was dubious so I bought some today and tried it. The technique works very well! I do, however feel that is is a silicon oil layer left on the model after doing it judging by the oily feel on my finger tips after work with the material.
