Hi Mike
Darn those pesky Brits and their color names. Here is link to a
handy chart concerning Britsh colors (colours).

scroll down to 1938-1945 and you schould see a list of color names.
There is a clickable link which will show an approximation of Mid Stone. Read all the data as they are very careful to mention that computer settings being different for different monitors will somewhat alter the shade you see on your computer. It should give you a rough Idea.
