Damon,
Time period is also very important in determining what color to use. Early versus late. The early mediums appeared in N. Africa with their factory applied grey green color. They proceeded to paint over these with the the only tan paint then available to the Army in the theater which was an Airforce tan that was much darker than the later Army tan. Later tanks arrived in theater with factory applied tan. If when looking at period B&W photos if the paint looks almost white then it is the Army tan. If it is darker than it is most likely the AF tan. I used Lifecolor UA 112(FS30219) Italian Light Sand 4 on my recently finished M13/40. I wanted to represent an earlier darker paint. For a lighter shade I couldn't help much there as I havn't looked for that yet(a future M14/41 will be the lighter shade). Hope this helps.
