Bill,

The three types of Mr. Surfacer depends on how much "carrier" is in the bottle, with Mr. Surfacer 500 being quite thick, and Mr. Surfacer 1200 having the ability to be painted on. Mr. Surfacer 500 is used to rough up the exteriors of tank parts, giving them a cast look. You can also use it to fill in those hideous knock-out pin marks.
