Are you using a regulator on your air compressor? Does your compressor have a tank? I had lots of problems when I had my airbrush directly connected to my air compressor. Each time the piston completed a stroke, I would get a cycle of high pressure followed by a low one. The constant rapid change in pressure caused a splattering effect as different amounts of paint were drawn. I use a tank on the compressor now, which has solved this problem.
