I'd like to second Juan's comment regarding the wearing of a protective mask. I use acrylics (ModelMaster and some Tamiya) thinned with alcohol almost exclusively now. I thought that the fumes from what is essentially water based paint and alcohol couldn't hurt you. After spraying sessions using just a cheap hobbyist filter mask I would feel nauseous for hours afterward. Aparently alcohol fumes are just as toxic as enamel/lacquer thinner fumes so I bought a cartridge filter mask
rated for organic vapours (that includes alcohol, varsol, acrylic thinners, in fact all the thinners that people here would use when spraying).
The post-spraying nausea has disappeared plus I take my time a little more when spraying knowing I am adequately protected.
So guys/gals, invest a little cash in a proper paint mask and you will avoid one of the nasty side-effects of our wonderful hobby.
