Are you referring to the white crystlization that occurs to paint when using alcohol to dilute acrylic paints such as rust stains? I have used this technique, alternating between enamels and acrylics successfully and with good results. However, once the paint is sealed with a laquer (gloss, semigloss, matt - doesnt matter which) OR if you use Rustall, you at done using alcohol (unless you want a serious reaction). After that point, recommend you use pastels or pigments.

Is this the question you had - hope this helps.
