Hi Stephane,
Try eliminating the flat varnish step before applying the wash. I have
had good results with oil based model paint washes applied directly to
acrylic paint coats. Specifically, I use Tamiya acrylics for the basic
finish and use thinned Testors Model Master oil based model paints
thinned with the Model Master thinner as a wash. If you let the acrylic
paint dry thoroughly (24 hours), you should not have a problem with the
wash destroying the base coat.
However, as with all new techniques, be prudent and try it on an old
model you don't care about anymore or on a part of the new kit that no
one will ever see, like the inside of the hull.
Good Luck & Happy Modeling,
Mike Siggins |
