Hello All,
Perhaps it is useful to shed light on The Question Why.
Why enamels are not so good for delicate tracks like those by Modelkasten (...but not only them, the same goes e.g. for the very delicate individual track links of the Panzer I's by Dragon and Tristar...)
It's the thinner in the paint that does it.
Most types of enamel thinner have some dissolving properties that lightly eat into the plastic. And/or dissolve the glue that holds the links and their very fragile parts, MK's Sherman tracks a notorious example.
This coupled to the fact that most tend to paint tracks with very thinned down paints can cause the ruinous effect.
Water-based acrylics are safe. So indeed stick to them. As far as I know no track link has ever been 'killed' by plain water. (any hidden pun definitely not intended) :))
H.T.H.
