Oh yeh.. some are and some are not. It also depends on the vehicle and if the side storage boxes are used...

Leather was used for the tools too, as you say. Best not make it a bright rusty leather colour, as this looks fake. A dark brown, almost black is more suitable to a vehicle that's been in the rain and mud, etc.
