Hi Guys,
Here are a couple of pics of FV432s waiting the washdown queue at Soltau in N Germany. I tried to find some pics of the sand/dust effect without success. But be assured it does happen, but equally quickly does get blown off, leaving just a thin film of dust. The pics i've attached show Soltau-01 a Command variant FV432 acting as OpFor, you should be able to pick out the mud and glower attached to the roadwheels, sprockets & Idlers and possibly the dust/dirt on the vehicle roof. You should also be able to see the high sheen that the tracks get after a period of running cross country. The box on the roof was a std army 6' steel locker, which contained spare radios, rations and other non critical equipment and spares. Soltau-03 (to Follow) was taken immediatelly after the first and shows front details of I39F the company Ambutrac. Again you'll see the sheen of the tracks and the general mud/dirt on the Final drive housings and belly glassis plate, where the vehicle "bellied" crossing ditches etc. The last 2Ks into Soltau was similar to conditions found in the pics of the M3s, but the difference was that these vehicles were driven for about 2Ks on concrete before turning around to queue at the washdown.

Hope this helps.
If anyone is interested in modeling the FV432 Command in the pic, please let me know.
Pete
