I've noticed this as well. It looks great on a model, but in real life I don't see this effect. Much of the aging effects on tanks, particularly as espoused by some of the "big names", just doesn't seem that real. Sort of like impressionist-period paintings, where the work is beautiful, but when you compare it with the real thing you can see the license the artist has taken. Just my 2c worth.
