Scott,
Absolutely! I've been using Behr latex acrylic housepaint as basecoat for years ($8 a quart mixed to ANY color you can come up with). I use an Iwata HP-BCS double action airbrush hooked up to a sprint-jet compressor. I mix the paint about 80:20 windex (yes, windex) to paint (about 2 eyedropper's full to the small (Polly Scale size) bottle. Shake vigorously and airbrush at about 30-40 psi. Because of the mix, you're going to have to prime ahead of time, as the paint doesn't have enough solvent to really stick hard. I use automotive primer (the brown stuff is perfect for the red oxide used by German AFV's anyway) in a spray can. Take a look at my Free French Panther: http://www.decalcomaniacs.net/Gallery_3.html and judge for yourself. Hope that helps.
Regards,
Georg |
