Yep - as the guys have said the paint is drying a little before it hits the plastic. So instead of spreading out and then drying it's piling up as it's too sticky.
Two basic reasons. You are spraying from too far away, or you need to keep that distance and thin your paint more.
You can try using Windex if you are in America, or if you are in the UK go to Halfords and get a bottle of windscreen washer fluid.
Either place it's a choice of pink or blue, it's mainly water, a little ethanol to prevent freezing, and a bit of Isopropyl alcohol.
The big advantage over the manufacturer's blend is it's available in litre bottles and you can afford to experiment with it by spraying sheets of white paper while you workout the best mix for you.

By the way, don't forget you can make great use of the granular effect for dusting your models with a light brown shade. Best dust you can get - and you know you can do it now :-)
