I have been trying to locate Sheridan is Panama images since I picked up the Jaguar kit a few years back.
From all of the images I have seen it appears to me that the Sheridans were in the 3 colour NATO scheme but the paint on all of them was very worn and it has been touched up with black spray and was very patchy and looks very mottled. It was not a clean and new looking 3 colour NATO cam at all.
Search Corbis.com for "Panama Tank" and "Operation Just Cause" and you will find a few images of the Sheridans.
You will obviously need to add the distinct Company and Platoon markings to a Panama Sheridan. It appears to me that all bumper codes were sprayed over in black.
On a historical side note...10 Sheridans were dropped into Panama on December 20, 1989 and another Platoon of 4 Sheridans had already been prepostioned in Panama in early December. Two of the Sheridans were disabled in the drop from the landing...one was recovered on a flat bed and one was blown in place and destroyed. Both the 152 mm HEAT and APERS Flechette rounds were used very effectively in Panama by the Sheridans.
The new Concord book only has one image of a Sheridan in Panama out at the airport and it is in black and white....very disappointing. The preview of the book on the Concord site shows the single image of the Sheridan. |
