Hello Mark,
Tony Greenland's book "Panzer Modelling Masterclass" page 105 shows a
Panther II with '403' in blue/yellow lettering too.
Then again, since the operational use of Panther II's is at least vague, it is not as solid informationwise as the use of blue/yellow lettering on the Tiger II's belonging to SS Schwere PzAbt. 501 in the Ardennes.
Anyone else around who has a source of information on the use of the Roman I, II, III use on Tiger II's since all I can find in own documentation is the use of three digit numbers only on turrets?
