Robert,
If you are going to use "filters" made by MIG...I can't answer your question. However, if by filters you are referring to a highly thinned wash then I might be able to help. For years I have painted with MM thinned with lacquer. You can then add a barrier coat of clear gloss, satin or nothing at all. I use a product called Turpinoid made by Weber and found in most all arts and crafts stores. I make my own 'filters with WN oils thinned in Turpinoid. It will not lift or craze the base paint colors. It will not harm acrylic paint either. If you look at pictures of my models in the gallery you can see the finish I get. I don't claim my style is the best but it works for me.
