I have been working on this method too. Here is what has been working well:

1. Primer. Dark grey or black works really well.

2. Paint base color and "lightened" colors with acrylic.

3. Do filter with the "dot" method. Apply dots of aoint and then, using a brush moist with thinner, wipe it all almost off. Like a thicker wash, in a way. This whole filter thing is really just a old form of artwork: a glaze. This is just a lot thinner.

4. Let it dry, then apply a coat of future.

5. Apply decals, do any paint chips etc., and let dry.

6. Apply a coat of flat, Testors rattle-can.

7. Do your washes and add your dirt.

8. finish up with whatever detailing needs to be done. (Pinwashes, flat coats, pastels, etc...)

I have no pictures to show yet, but I will post them when I do.
