| I like Clair's vinagar suggestion, sounds interesting. However here is what I have done in the past and it really works good for me. After cleaning up the tracks (removing any excess metal and boring out any blocked holes) I throw them in a old vitiman bottle with some hot water and a good squirt of dish washing detertent. Shake vigerously for a couple of minutes and rinse well. Leave them in the bottle and fill with Blaken-It (found at most Hobby Train stores) and shake for another 3-5 minutes (DONT FORGET TO PUT THAT LID ON TIGHT). For rusty tracks simply let try, the left over Blacken-It looks better than any wash. For newish looking tracks rinse and dry. In My opinion you just cant beat Fruli tacks and Blacken-It. Note, this will NOT work if you have already primed the tracks. |
