I also prime my models with the Tamiya spray can superfine light grey. It works great. First time I used it I thought I ruined my model because all small details seemed to be filled with thick paint but once dry (and drying goes very fast), it was a thin, perfectly even and hard surface. I highly recommend it.
Here's my Jagdtiger primed.
