It all depends on which paint I am using. I almost never prime under tamiya paints, if the build has been going well with little seam issues.

If I've been having to do a lot of cleanup work on a kit, I'll prime to make sure the seams are ok. I also always prime if I'm going to be using ModelMaster paints, they seem to have a lot of issues with fisheyes when I'm doing resin.
