| Painting the parts on the sprue is too troublesome IMHO. Not only do you have to remove seam lines, fill knockout marks, etc... you have an excessivee amount of handling of the painted parts which pretty much assures more touch up painting later. Add to the fact that you have to remove paint from the areas where you will be applying glue, and it all adds up to a big hassle for me. The one advantage I always felt armor modeling had over aircraft and other subjects was that you could paint most of the kit after it was almost completly assembled.I hate redoing anything if I can avoid it, so for me, everything gets assembled as much as possible before I even consder breaking out the paint. Then again I still paint the rubber portions of wheels with a brush (no masks for me) and hold the opinion that if you can't see it don't worry about painting it, so I might be considered a dinosaur and set in my ways! |
