| Subject: | Re: Reliable Method for Application of Decals w/o Gloss Coat | |

Hi,
It depends on the decal's quality. Some russian made are excellent, they adhere very well. I've had the silvering effect even with gloss coated surfaces. Micro Sol and Set seem quite good to me. I had to use them on a Tiger Ausf.B from Dragon, can't complain. When I have this kind of effect though, I carefully go back and add some matt coat between the decal and the model. Another trick would be using a little bit of water based matt coat and just before applying the decal, add some water, then apply the decal and proceed as usual, with a cotton swab until the decal is adapted to the surface and extrnally dry, the matt coat will "suck" the decal as it dries itself.
Hope this helps,
Juan |
